Precinct Changes Approved for Harnett County
In late July 2025, two of Harnett County’s largest and fastest-growing voting precincts—Anderson Creek and Barbecue—will officially be split into four. This change, recently approved by the North Carolina State Board of Elections, aims to reduce long wait times and make voting more accessible.
The newly created precincts are:
-
Spout Springs (from Anderson Creek)
-
Overhills (from Barbecue)
With Anderson Creek previously serving over 12,000 voters and Barbecue nearly 16,500, this move helps ensure voters are distributed more evenly and can cast their ballots more efficiently.
Additional precinct adjustments include:
-
The merging of Central Harnett Lillington and Central Harnett Neill’s Creek into a single Central Harnett precinct.
-
The consolidation of East and West Averasboro into one Averasboro precinct.
