This Monday evening at 6pm (September 13, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. in the Boardroom at 900 S. 11th St. Lillington, NC. ), the Harnett County School Board will vote on whether to extend the mask mandate to students and teachers. Gov Cooper has required a vote every 30 days on mandating masks.
Currently, under the mandate, if a student tests positive, they and the 5 or 6 kids around them are sent home to study for 14 days. Without the mask mandate, if a student tests positive, the WHOLE class will be sent home.
We can be sure that the Pro-Covid/Horse Dewormer Treatment Crowd will make their voices known. We cannot allow theirs to be the only voices, especially when reality is on our side.
What can you do?
1) Email the school board members and superintendent on your concern for students, teachers health and a minimally interrupted learning process during this pandemic. Their names and emails are below.
2) Attend Monday night's school board meeting and speak up! Register by 5:55pm and speak up for 3 minutes to the Board. We only have 1 elected Democrat on the school board, the rest are Republicans.
It's important to thank them for masking thus far, to be brave, believe the science and continue to mask up. HCDP leadership will there, we hope to see you too.
